Took some pics of an Arteon the other day.

I wish it had the go to match the show . Needs an R version.
It’s expensive even with yuge discounts being offered right now.

Your photos are nice, but this shit is fake yo.

A few ground more, you can get the actual Audi version , the Audi A5 Sportback.

That’s dumb. I’d rather have the fully-loaded VW than a base model Audi any day.

Great looking photos! I dig the Arteon.

Did you actually match up the equipment levels? You think that Audi comes with steelie wheels, roll up windows and fabric seats?
This Arteon will sell like the CC before it, which is terrible because there is really no market for them. I’m honesty surprised they brought it back to the US, but then again, VW needs a lease special car, which is what this will be.

Really great pictures there.
So many are complaining about the price and it’s ‘lack or power’.

Honestly thought it was a Chevy while scrolling. Not to compliment the Chevy, I feel that’s a huge negative for this thing. Headlights are neat. Should’ve continued the LED strips through the grill, like a modern early 90's grand prix. Everything else looks blend.

The A5 is also missing the interior room. The Arteon has 5" more legroom in the rear. Also almost twice the cargo room with the seats flat.

I was curious after reading your back and forth, top o’ the line Arteon vs. Mid Line A5 Sportback :
Had to add A5 Cold Weather Package to match a bit closer but otherwise the only upgrades, which I did for both, were: all weather floor mats, all weather trunk mats, upgraded wheel package (20" VW, 19" Audi). I could’ve spent more time to get them more identical, but this is still pretty close. If I were objective I’d admit it’s a close call. Loving Audis as I do though, I’d go A5 Sportback for sure. Gotta admit the VW is a great looking car though.

VW should pay you for those

That looks much better than the New Audi designs, especially upfront.

A loaded Arteon is pretty expensive but the entry-level SE isn’t exactly poverty-spec and goes for $35k, or around the same as a GTI Autobahn. That seems like a decent deal to me. I doubt you’ll find a new A5 for anything close to that price.

full width LED strips with a light up badge would have been the business

Same engine as a golf R in a car that is only 300lbs heavier and a hell of a lot more spacious.

Yes, but some seem to think you need a 0-60mph of five seconds and 300bhp to do a daily commute on I-### which will often see them doing no more than 35mph.
I despair sometimes. Lol.

The artheon is an MQB car; it has a transversely mounted engine, the A5 is MLB, and has a longitudinal engine
The Audi equivalent is the A3 sedan

Yep. My ~ 210HP S60 accelerates faster than about 95% of the cars I see, not because it is fast, but because most people neither need nor use their more powerful cars (I don’t know how things are in the UK these days, but here 210HP is on the weak end for mid-sized cars).

Our midsize is what you’d call small.
You can get a 1.6 diesel Skoda Octavia with 113bhp.
((think VW Golf with a larger bootspace))
A 0.9 Dacia Logan Stepway with 90bhp.
Citroen C5 Aircross, 1.2, 128bhp.
Kia Optima, 2.0 petrol, 241bhp.
Kia Optima, 1.6 diesel, 134bhp.
Peugeot 508, 1.5 diesel, 130bhp.
Ford Mondeo, 1.5 diesel, 118bhp.
Ford Mondeo, 1,5 petrol, 158bhp.
We don’t need large engines here. We have speed limits, we have traffic, etc... what’s the point of having a large engined car and paying extra roa d tax on emissions to sit in traffic next to a person sitting in a very similar car, who’s paying no r oad tax because they said, ‘I don’t need a 2.0+ engine capable of doing 0-60mph in five seconds because unless I use a motorway, I’m hardly likely to even get up to 60mph. So I’ll enjoy my 1.2, pay no road tax, but still able to sit at above the national speed limit on the motorway quite happily’.

No, you noticed I didn’t same the exact same platform. But it has nothing to do with size of the vehicle which determines what VAG platform is used.
The MQB and MLB can be used to fit a wide range of car sizes. From A5 to A8 for the MLB and A1 to Atlas with the MQB.
The main difference is the engine configuration for front drive applications, either transverse (MQB) or longitudinal (MLB).

I’m a bot. That's probably the reason for the difference.
